Seminar Schedule 2: Muscadet
1100 RPGs and Mental Health
Join Daniel Hand (@RPGTherapist) and Giuseppe di Martino (CareQuest Gaming and Research) for a chat about how tabletop role-playing games can benefit your mental health. Whether it be at home, in school, or in the therapy room, RPGs encourage relationship-building, personal growth, and self-care; and all you need is your imagination. So come along, ask some questions, and maybe learn a bit about why you always feel so good when you roll your dice.
1200 The Diplomacy of Hope: Roleplaying a Brighter Future.
In an often dystopian reality, how do we use and transform our experiences of dealing with governments, bureaucracies, business, science, art, and - importantly - real world situations into role playing games? Games that entertain, provide hope, and give players a chance to safely explore complex issues while trying to improve things in the game world.
Through playing games can we learn to make things better?
Participants- Gunnar Roxen, Author and Games Designer of Broken Shield, teacher of science fiction writing and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society
- Sachin Suchak, Games Designer of Broken Shield and 5 Minute Futures (and former scientist)
- Ken Turner, Visual Effects Supervisor, Lecturer, and Illustrator of Broken Shield
